According to Ralph Peters' latest NY Post column, al Qa'ida's stock is about to bottom out. Col. Peters doesn't think it'll recover, either. Here's his harshest words, directed at the Democrats, though he doesn't do it by name:
The partisan hacks who insisted that Iraq was a distraction from fighting al Qaeda have missed the situation's irony: Things are getting worse in Afghanistan and Pakistan not because our attention was elsewhere, but because al Qaeda has been driven from the Arab world, with nowhere else to go. Al Qaeda isn't fighting to revive the Caliphate these days. It's fighting for its life.
Make no mistake. This is a self-loathing, nation-loathing man who is more than hellbent on taking America down a few notches to assuage his liberal guilt. In the twisted, socialist mind of one Barack Hussein Obama, our best years are not, nay, must not be in front of us; rather we must atone for the best years we've already had and for having had the audacity of greatness amidst such worldly suffering(much of it caused, incidentally, by socialists and their policies).
Thank goodness for the Wall Street Journal or we might not know this: the Iraqi expats in Cairo, Egypt are GRATEFUL to we Americans. Why? For the first time they have a chance at a society not ruled by a dictator. Ok, not the first because they did have a leader whom Saddam removed but they have a chance now, and they know it.
Le Grillion is a restaurant-bar in the always-crowded downtown Cairo frequented by Iraqi expats. Take a look at what they are saying and also note their concerns.
Vets for Freedom continues their efforts to push for a successful conclusion to the war in Iraq with their latest ad, “Some in Washington”. The ad produces quotes from notables such as Harry Reid, Barack Obama, and Obama’s latest BFF and Iraq tripmate Chuck Hagel all declaring the surge a failure before it even started and the war lost. The veterans then introduce headlines from this year proclaiming how wrong these “leaders” turned out to be:
