Just because the legislature isn't in session doesn't mean there aren't deals being made in Saint Paul.

One of the legislative highlights of summer was the recent Government Operations Committee meetings chaired by Gene Pelowski. Some of the proposed reforms are so important to the democrat majority that the Star Tribune decided to publish their opinion about how important this committee work is.

Forgive my cynicism but when a committee meets in the dog days of summer, and Per Diem claims are gleefully filled out be all legislator attendees at the expense of the taxpayer, my underwear naturally begins to creep up on me.

While a few of the proposed "reforms" may be worth discussing the cast majority of this frivolous endeavor was to simply mute the voice of the minority. A closer look at both the report and the minority response tells a detailed story about the way competing interest vye for attention and funding from our government.

Here is the Legislative Process Reform Report

Here is the Minority Response

Read them yourself and decide whether the voice of the people is being magnified or diminished by the Government Operations Committee summertime action on Legislative Process Reform.
