Yesterday was the frosting on a very bitter cupcake of vetoes. Dayton vetoed a somewhat bipartisan and greatly needed teacher licensing bill.
Every time I hear or see our Governor, I am amazed by him. Why? How this man, this career statist politician, this man who was voted one of the worst senators of all time, could beat two very high quality men back to back in general elections. That really does say much more about the quality and intellect of many of the voters in Minnesota. How they could be so easily cowed by a man who is either Captain Nefarious or Mr. Stumble Bumble.
I suppose we should be grateful to Dayton for one thing. Just like Obama did for Trump, Dayton is laying out the red carpet for a Republican to be Governor in 2018. Right now there are some very qualified Republicans lining up to run for the Governor's spot in 2018. And the lessons learned from the last two elections are ringing loud and clear in each candidate's ears. This time around Republicans are not going to be mean spirited, but by the same token, the gloves are also coming off.
Yesterday was the frosting on a very bitter cupcake of vetoes. Dayton vetoed a somewhat bipartisan and greatly needed teacher licensing bill. Why? Because (maybe I should put this in bold font) - Mark Dayton, like many of the Democrats, is OWNED and OPERATED by Education Minnesota! I don't know how much clearer I could make that point. Vetoing this bill and sticking his heels in the sand to get a ton more money for Pre-K, are Exhibits "A" and "B" to that statement.
I know some of my Left leaning Democratic friends (even my Democrat Troll) think Dayton is a kindly old gentleman who has lived through some hard knocks, and is just trying to do the people's business. Many of us on the Right feel bad for him about his health concerns. We know he is too sick to govern - has been for years. But since he insists on staying in that chair, and governing like Captain Nefarious, the heat will be on and the gloves are coming off. The future of this state is way too important to coddle this guy any longer.
My hope (although this may just be a fantasy) is that Speaker Daudt and Senate Leader Gazelka show some RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION and anger over the veto of this common sense teacher licensing bill. So much so, that the bills which are now in front of the Governor are the BAFO (Best and Final Offer). No negotiation - these are the bills which are the result of thousands of hours of legislative work. They are not loaded with "pork" or "throw-aways" - they represent lean and mean legislation.
So Mark Dayton, who are you right now? Captain Nefarious or Mr. Stumble Bumble? I know who you are not. You are not a good Governor. A good Governor does not operate the way you do sir. It is long since time for you to leave. 2018 cannot come soon enough.
