Dave Thul

Dave is a resident of Owatonna, MN where he lives with his wife and two children. A member of the MN National Guard since 1992, he started blogging at Foreign and Domestic in 2007 when his unit was extended in Iraq as part of the surge.  Since he retired from the Guard in 2014, his opinions on military matters are much less likely to get him in trouble with the Army.

A proud independent conservative for years, Dave finally got off the fence and joined the Republican Party on Jan 20th, 2009 in response to the news of the day. He was elected co-chair of the Steele County BPOU four months later, and in April 2011 was elected chair of the CD1 Republican Party.  Dave currently serves as CD1 delegate to the MNGOP state executive committee, vice chair of the Minnesota Oraganization of Republican Veterans, and  temporary chair of the MNGOP Chairs Caucus.

Dave is currently the post commander of his local VFW and used his GI Bill benefits to complete a degree in American History.
