Is there a debate tonight? Meh. I’ll be on the road, in the role of pater familias, taking a few days off with the family. I’ll have my trusty XM with me, so I suppose I could listen to the debate, but there’s always the danger I could nod off and the next thing ya know, someone will be saying to the highway patrol, “He just sailed out there.” So, I think I’ll stick with the Dodgers broadcast of the game tonight. As one of the early adopters of McCain technology around here, I knew going in he wasn’t the most dynamic campaigner of all time, and the previous debates have borne that out. I did think he was our best shot at counteracting the miasma of mass hypnosis that seems to have descended over the land. (When I hear people saying they think Obama is the one best able to “handle” the economic turbulence, I rage at my tv or monitor “BASED ON WHAT?!?!” And then I try desperately to find my happy place.) Only three weeks to go. The world awaits the coming of The One.
