Michelle Malkin posted Wednesday an unclassified memo sent to military and civilian personnel to be on alert as the 5th anniversary of the Iraq war comes near.
As the 5th anniversary of the Iraq war approaches, protest groups are increasing activity, some to include a direct threat to Recruiters, other Soldiers, others with DoD decals and their families. Areas of concern include Seattle and Tacoma, Washington; Pittsburgh; Washington, DC.; Chicago; Chapel Hill, NC; New York; Orlando and many locations in California.
The Army recruiting station in Minneapolis has been a target for vandals at least four times in the last 18 months.
Sometime after soldiers left Tuesday night [Feb.19], somebody threw two 40-pound rocks through the front door window of the office on Lyndale Avenue South.
The Army believes the vandals don't agree with America's presence in Iraq: "They're making a statement," said Ken Plant of the Army's public affairs office.
Plant said past attacks on the office have included broken windows and graffiti sprayed on the building, but "we do plan to stay put."
They'll be prepared for the "anarkids" this Saturday, who will rally in front of the center at noon. If you're in the area, you can help using the buddy system - and capturing vandalism on tape.
Students! This March marks 5 years of occupation in Iraq. Let’s hit the streets against this war and recruiters in our schools. Meet in front of the recruitment station on Lake & Lyndale Ave S where we will rally before meeting up with a community wide anti-war protest.
At least they won't be walking out of class this time. It's hard to see on the poster, but sponsors include Socialist Alternative and the U of M SDS. |
