This just in, DFL Sen. Steve Murphy's life dream has come true. Carol Molnau is no longer MNDOT Commish.

[We interrupt this post to say that Minnesota's bridges are in fact no safer than they were yesterday]

On a party line vote, Molnau was fired 44 to 22. In possibly related news, 3 DFL Senators have mysteriously disappeared from the Capital with no trace of there whereabouts.

In other news, the Minnesota State budget has a $935 million deficit. That does not bold well for the DFL Legislature which has more spending on their 2008 agenda, or their special interest benefactors who are expecting reimbursement for their 2006 electioneering giving the DFL such lopsided majorities in both Houses.

[We interrupt this post for more late breaking news, Education Committee Chair, DFLer Mindy Greiling of Roseville is holed up in her offices with a pack of pay raise hungry teacher's union goons picketing her office. ]

"My back is up against the fire and the wolves are circling," House K-12 Education Finance Chairwoman Mindy Greiling, DFL-Roseville, said Wednesday. "The idea of K-12 once again being the cash cow to paying the deficit, I'm going to be fighting that tooth and nail."

We hope this can can to some sort of peaceful conclusion. Jimmy Carter is expected at any moment to help begin negotiations.

And in the Minnesota House of Representatives, Legislators overwhelmingly approved the first ever publicly funded disability life insurance policies for accident victims. Residents are encouraged to begin the line in front of Senator Murphy's office and stand their with their hands out, and not say a word. Treasury officials will begin dispersing the handouts at approximately sundown. You're encouraged to bring a sleeping bag and sack lunch as half the citizens who have ever been involved in an accident on State roads have chartered buses and are on the way for their fair share.

[We interrupt this post with some more late breaking news, filthy rich Trial lawyers have filed class action lawsuits against the State on behalf of the 35W bridge victims, citing the compensation fund as an admission of guilt. Transportation Committee Chair Steve Murphy (DFL Red Wing) has been named as a co defendant due to his years of oversight of MNDOT and transportation.]

Stay tuned to True North for more silly political news from the Minnesota Capital as it happens.
